Jason O’Connell: Fat & scant of breath, or Stabbing at Hamlet
POSTPONED
Asking if you have what it takes to be (or not to be) the Melancholy Dane is a daunting question for any actor, but when you fear you don't fit the traditional mold and your resume lists more comedy clubs than classical theaters, it can be downright (sorry, Ophelia) maddening. Jason O'Connell's follow-up to The Dork Knight explores his relationship with the granddaddy of all Shakespeare plays.
POSTPONED. NEW SHOW TIMES TO BE ANNOUNCED SHORTLY.
Pontoon
Saturday, Jan. 11, 7 p.m.
Written by and starring Rick Ehrstin. Directed by Rebecca Harris. An aging man, concerned that he has wasted his life, is called to a mysterious lake by his big brother. There, he finds a group of motley old folks who own customized pontoon boats. He also finds gigantic fish that swallow you whole, intelligent mice, and a sky that doesn’t make sense at all. This is a one-man show that examines the fear and remorse that can accompany getting old but also reveals the possibilities for release and wonder.
Patrice: The Movie
Jan. 17, 7:30 p.m.
Patrice has finally found the love of her life, Garry, who is also disabled. They want nothing more than to get married, but if they do—or even if they just move in together—the government benefits they need to survive would be cut. Despite the scrutiny they’re under, they decide to plan a commitment ceremony that could risk their entire future.
Patrice’s present-day battles are informed by her past. With long-time friend, director Ted Passon, Patrice recreates scenes from her life imbued with her art and her uniquely tragicomic joie de vivre. Starring a cast of children, with Patrice playing herself at every age, we see the struggles Patrice endured to get the house, the job, and the life that she’s now fighting to hold on to.
